What is a Holistic Counsellor & How Can They Help Me?
The term 'holistic' comes from the greek work 'holo' meaning whole or complete. A holistic counsellor's purpose is to help you to create harmony and balance within yourself. To re-connect mind, body and spirit to facilitate wellness. A holistic counsellor will not only guide and support you during any current issues you may be experiencing but they will help to empower you to reset your equilibrium.
What Can I Expect When Attending A Holistic Counselling Session?
Similar to a regular counselling session, this service provides a safe, non-judgemental and completely confidential space to talk. Primarily, and especially during your first session your holistic counsellor is there to listen. You will be encouraged to talk freely and your counsellor may take a few notes in order to better understand any issues you may be having or for you both to have a point of reference as you progress during your sessions.
What differs from a normal counselling session to a holistic counselling session is that your holistic counsellor will empower you with various self-help techniques that will strengthen your body, mind and spirit to enable you to feel more confident in healing, resolving or moving on. These techniques may include meditation practices, stress management, journaling techniques or relaxation therapies that help to bring you back into balance. Once you have achieved a more harmonious state, you will be happier, healthier and better equipped to continue enjoying your best life.
How many sessions do I need?
That is entirely between you and your counsellor. Once you have had your initial session, this will be discussed and a plan agreed on. There is no set commitment required from yourself however your counsellor may suggest a follow up session, or a block of sessions in order to continue to support you on your journey.
