Studio Rules & Etiquette

  1. Our studio is a homely environment that functions best when everyone respects each other and our space.

  2. It is advised to refrain from eating 1 to 2 hours before a mat-based practice or at least 3 hours before an aerial class.  If you need to eat, have something very light within this time as yoga is best practiced on an empty stomach. Wear loose comfortable clothing and bring a bottle of water with you.  Please do not wear jewellery or clothing with zips/buttons when attending an aerial class.

  3. No shoes are permitted in the yoga studio.

  4. If you have to bring your phone inside the studio make sure it is OFF – or at least on silent with no vibration so that you do not distract the teacher or other students.

  5. Arrive a few minutes early to allow yourself time to prepare for your practice.  If you are unavoidably late, please enter the studio as quietly as possible.

  6. If you have to leave a class early, let the teacher know and exit before the start of relaxation.

  7. Listen to your body and not your ego. Make sure your teacher is aware of any pre-existing condition or injury that might affect your practice. Honour your body and practice within your body’s limitations on that day.

  8. Yoga is not a competitive sport or a quick fix workout! Do not compare yourself or your abilities to others. Yoga is a journey, your journey, to strengthen your body, mind and spirit.  Over time it will also improve your flexibility and mobility along with your overall health.  It is a holistic approach to a lifelong practice, so be kind, patient and understanding of yourself.  Take rests when you need to and most of enjoy it.
