About the event

Join us as we delve deeper into the more challenging poses, improving alignment, understanding & making them more accessible & achieveable for all.

Tania will guide you through a specific sequence of hatha yoga asana to help you to open & strengthen the body & mind in order to move closer towards the full expression of this challenging pose.

Dhaurasana - translated as bow pose is named after the shape it takes.  This challenging back-bending, heart opening posture resembles the shape of a bow.

This posture can take some time & patience to achieve, especially if you experience, like I once did, restrictions or weakness in the core.  However, by embarking on the journey towards this posture you can strengthen the whole back of the body including the muscles & glutes which will help protect the spine and reduce pain.  It is also a fabulous heart opener, helping us to strengthen and expand the chest ribs & lungs.  We experience a deep stretch into the abdomen which can stimulate the digestive system while lifting the legs strengthens the hamstrings & lengthens the quads & hip flexors.

Our goal for this class is not necessarily to achieve the full expression of this pose, our goal is open & strengthen the body & mind using the journey towards this pose as a tool to reconnect with our true selves.  In doing so we release the ego in exchange for patience & understanding.  You will learn to use correct & safe alignment & develope a compassionate curiosity on the journey towards dhanurasana.
